What is a water treatment plant really for?

Water treatment plants are used to remove toxins, microorganisms and harmful sediments from wastewater.
Employing physical, chemical, and biological processes, which are divided into 6 main treatments:

  1. Preliminary
  2. Primary
  3. Secondary
  4. Tertiary or advanced
  5. Disinfection
  6. Sludge handling

It is important to mention that not all treatment plants follow these steps, therefore, the process will depend on the treatment plant we are talking about.
The treatment plants also serve to regulate the pollutants that reach the water, because the factories have the responsibility to treat industrial water and reduce its toxicity before reaching the rivers or in any case the sea.
Contributing to the preservation of marine species such as birds, fish, algae, among others, and improving aquatic biodiversity.
In addition, they contribute to the care of water, because once the water finishes the treatment, it can be reused by industries, in the agricultural sector, and even for domestic use.
